Frequently asked questions

Find answers that will help you evaluate safety and trustworthiness as well as the expected aesthetic result. Important information you need to make an informed choice.

Can I return to my normal everyday life after the treatment?

Swelling or redness of the skin may occur after the treatment. Most patients can return to their normal daily routine on the same day, depending on the treatment.

Is the treatment painful?

Many facial fillers contain the local anesthetic lidocaine, which can help to relieve pain during treatment. Depending on the facial area, your doctor will also apply an ointment containing lidocaine beforehand. In many facial areas, however, a filler treatment is painless.

Do I have to pay attention to anything after the treatment?

After the treatment, you can return to your everyday life without interruption. Your doctor may advise you to avoid some things for a while, such as applying make-up to the treated areas or spending long periods in the sun or sauna. You should also avoid UV radiation and cold temperatures.

When should I book a follow-up treatment?

Facial filler treatments are temporary. If you decide not to have any further treatments, the remaining hyaluronic acid will be metabolized and broken down naturally in your skin, so the effect will wear off over time. Your doctor will advise you on the best way to maintain the effect. He*she may suggest a follow-up appointment two weeks after the treatment.

Does my face look unnatural after a filler treatment?

Good hyaluronic fillers integrate with the tissue under the skin. This means that you continue to look natural after treatment when you smile, laugh or frown. Extremely “treated” looking celebrities are often shown in the media as a negative example, but they are not the norm. Your doctor will work with you to create a customized treatment plan to achieve the results you desire.

Can treatment with facial fillers be reversed?

Hyaluronic acid is a non-permanent facial filler. It occurs naturally in the body and is broken down over time. Hyaluronic fillers can be quickly dissolved with hyaluronidase, making treatment corrections possible.

Are there any side effects? And if so, which ones?

Please discuss possible side effects with your doctor, so that you receive detailed and personalized information.

Hyaluronic fillers belong exclusively in the hands of experts, i.e. doctors who have been specially trained in aesthetic injection treatments. Risks and possible side effects as well as the general suitability of a hyaluronic filler treatment must be clarified in consultation with the treating doctor. When using high-quality fillers, the likelihood of side effects is rather low.

Possible side effects include temporary reactions at the injection site, such as

  • Redness
  • Swelling
  • Itching
  • Pain
  • Tingling/numbness
  • Strength/unevenness
  • Bruises
  • Discolorations

These reactions can be immediate or delayed and can last up to a week. Injections into the lip can lead to more swelling and bruising due to the specific, sensitive physiology of this area. As with any injection, there is a risk of infection. This is not a complete list of side effects. If inflammatory reactions persist for more than a week or if other side effects occur, consult a healthcare professional as soon as possible.
