Sensations of pulling or pinching at the treatment site.
Severe cold, tingling, stinging, pain and cramps. These sensations may subside when the area becomes numb.
Redness and tightness.
Temporary pallor and/or slight bruising around the edges of the treatment area.
Tingling and stinging.
Redness, bruising and swelling.
Pressure sensitivity, cramps and pain.
Itching, skin sensitivity, tingling and numbness. Numbness can last up to several weeks after treatment.
Feeling of fullness in the back of the throat after submental treatment.
Paradoxical hyperplasia: A noticeable increase in tissue volume within the treatment area that may occur two to five months after treatment. Surgical intervention may be required. Late-onset pain with typical onset several days after treatment and improvement within a few weeks
Cold burns: First or second degree cold burns may occur during treatment. With proper care, these usually subside without permanent consequences.
Vasovagal symptoms: dizziness, drowsiness, nausea, hot flushes, sweating or fainting during or immediately after treatment.
Subcutaneous induration: Generalized induration and/or individual nodules in the treatment area that may develop after treatment and may be accompanied by pain and/or discomfort.
Hyperpigmentation: Hyperpigmentation may occur after treatment. This usually subsides on its own.
Hernia: Treatment may lead to the formation of a new hernia or aggravate existing hernias, which may require surgical repair.
